Process of Urbanization
Following are the process of urbanization.
- Concentration. This first phase in urbanization process is the concentration of people living in small place towards the city where the activities are in diversity.
- Segregation. In this step the iconological difference occurs due to diversity in activities. In these activities some are identified geographically or related to particular areas of the city. In this way city develops a distinct financial district, a trade centre and a residential sector, each separate from the others.
- Innovation. Cities are never static. Any differential area is open to ecological invasion by new activities or population change. For example; industries may be set up which covers a residential area.
- Succession. Once this process of ecological invasion is more or less complete, succession has occurred. That is an activity in which group of people has to replace by another.
