Max Weber Biography and Life
Max Weber was born in Erfurt, Germany, on April 21, 1864. He belonged to an ideal class family and have a great influence on his intellectual and psychological development. His father was a bureaucrat and rose to a relatively important political position. He was a part of the political establishment. At the age of eighteen, max Weber left home for a short time to attend the University of Heidelberg. Weber was already and intellectual person but the university developed his social thinking. He returned to Berlin in 1884 to his parents’ home to take courses at the University of Berlin. He remained there for about eight years and completed his Ph.D. At the University of Berlin Max Weber started teaching but later on his attention tends towards economics and sociology. His mother led an ascetic life. He moved closer to his mother’s values and started this work deeply. Weber following his mother ahead and become a workable person. The result of his hard work was to become a professor of economics in 1896. During 1897, Weber’s academic career was at full swing. Weber delivered his first lecture one half years. After that, Weber was the best and famous worker. After that Weber faced some psychological problems but continued his work in China, India and ancient Judaism. He helped the German sociological society in 1910. In addition, Weber was actively political and wrote essays on the issues of the day. There was a tension in Weber’s life because of the bureaucratic mind presented by his father and his mother’s religiosity. In 1918, he again started teaching at the University of Vienna and after the joined the University of Munich as a professor of economics. Max Weber was a German scholar and left deep impressions upon sociology by his scholarly writings. He died in 1920, at the age of 56 years and at the time of his death; he was working on his more important volume, “economy and society”.
